Are un-monitored cameras effective at preventing crime?
Utilizing un-monitored video surveillance security systems are often not effective at deterring crime for the following reasons. In most cases all you are left with is a video of a crime after the fact and a police case number. Although at times this video can be essential in solving crimes by providing needed video evidence. It lacks the ability to really deter criminals who are intently trying to commit crime on your property. Cameras that function without human intervention in real time cannot respond or react in a preventative manner.
How effective will a camera be if the criminal wears a hood before entering your property then slips away with no eyewitness?
As crime trends higher video surveillance security systems will be bought and installed at greater rate. However, business consumers need to understand that the installation of camera systems may not necessarily prevent crime from occurring. Business owners need interactive surveillance monitoring to better protect against criminals.
